The station uses a foot-pump mechanism to dispense freshwater from a 30-gallon onboard tank. Users press a foot pedal at the base of the unit to activate water flow -- no electricity, batteries, or plumbing hookup is needed. After washing, used water drains through the basin into a separate 30-gallon gray water collection tank at the base. The soap dispenser and paper towel holder are built into the station and restocked at each weekly service visit.

OSHA recommends at least 1 handwash station for every 2 portable toilets on construction sites. For events, 1 station per 4-6 porta potties is a good guideline.
